FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Throughout the Netherlands, you can pay for public transportation with OVpay. In Amsterdam, you can also use various discount cards from the GVB (streetcar, bus and metro), among others.

For using public transportation in the Netherlands, the 9292 app is very useful to plan your trip from door to door

OVpay

What is OVpay?

OVpay is an easy way to check in and out for public transport with your bank card. It works the same as an OV chip card. Check in when you board the streetcar, bus, subway or train and check out when you arrive at your final stop. Pre-registration or downloading a separate app is not necessary. You can travel immediately with OVpay, and the amount you pay for your trip is automatically reflected in your bank statement.

Payment methods suitable for OVpay
You can check in and out with:

  • contactless payment cards from ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, Bunq, Knab, ING, Rabobank, Regiobank, Triodos or SNS
  • Mastercard or VISA contactless credit cards (issued by ICS, among others)
  • A cell phone linked for contactless payment to one of the above payment cards, credit cards or with an Apple Pay or Google Wallet
  • A foreign, contactless debit or credit card from Maestro, V PAY, Mastercard or VISA
Step by step
  1. Hold your debit card, credit card or mobile against the card reader or gate and you are checked in.
  2. Do you get off? It’s the same way. And with the same pass you checked in with.
  3. Your payment goes automatically. The next day you see the amount in your payment overview with the description NLOV. All rides of the day are added together and debited in 1 amount. And the price? That is the same as traveling with your OV-chipkaart without discounts.
  4. Want to view the travel expenses for a particular day? Then download the OVpay app or enter the 14 numbers and letters that appear after NLOV in your payment statement and the amount debited on the self-arrange page.
There are several ways to travel inexpensively (unlimited) in Amsterdam:

  • Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket: Want to discover what there is to do inside and outside the city? With the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket, a low-cost public transport ticket, you can make unlimited use of all streetcar, bus and metro lines of GVB, Connexxion, AllGo, R-net and EBS (including night lines) and NS in Amsterdam and the region for 1, 2 or 3 days.

After entering the gate, take an immediate right and then an immediate left. Our apartment is located in the orange building with a wooden balcony on your right, lit with atmospheric lights in the evening hours.

If you come by car, you can drive it in at the main gate to unload(DRIVE SLOWLY) and then park for free outside the gate. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
The code for the main gate, if needed, is 2014. Also give this code to the cab driver if the gate is closed upon arrival.

From 10 AM to 6 PM we are usually at the Amsterdam Farm Lodge and from 6 PM to 8 AM a night watchman is present in apartment A4 under the stairs.

Safety / Smoke detectors

Each room in each apartment is equipped with a smoke detector connected to a fire alarm system. When a smoke detector is activated, a “cough-cough” alarm sounds in all rooms and apartments. In that case, you should immediately leave the apartment, close the door behind you and go to the assembly point: the field opposite the Amsterdam Farm Lodge. The fire department will automatically receive a notification and will respond immediately.

The smoke detectors are protected against being unscrewed and covered. Even then, an alarm will be triggered. To avoid unwanted alarms, including false alarms – which are very unpleasant for both us and our guests – we ask that you strictly observe the following guidelines:

  1. No smoking or vaping in the apartment. Smoking is permitted outside. On the left side of the building is a canopy near the stairs where you can stand dry in case of rain.
  2. Use the hood when cooking or baking. If you produce smoke or vapor, also open a window in the kitchen. Note that there is a separate smoke detector in the kitchen that may react more sensitively than the others. Should it go off, immediately turn off the fire and open the windows.
  3. Do not touch or cover the smoke detectors.

If these rules are violated, we reserve the right to remove you from the apartment, without refund of accommodation fees
