Welcom at NoordOogst
On a "forgotten" part of the city you will find a unique urban agriculture project that is buzzing with activity. Here people come together to relax, meet new people and discover surprising things. With a diverse range of entrepreneurs and initiatives, together we form NoordOogst, an inspiring place where sustainability and community are central. There is an awful lot to experience and see here. Think of an urban garden where you can experience the origins of fresh produce, a craft beer brewery to enjoy unique flavors. In addition, you can meet our animals, such as pigs and chickens, or visit the apiary to learn more about bees. For nature lovers, we offer an enchanting butterfly garden and a vineyard that lets you experience the charm of local growing. Children can have fun in the nature playground, while adults can use the meeting space for creative sessions. CONSCIOUS CHOISES
The environment in which we work is important to us. That is why, at Amsterdam Farm Lodge, we try to make conscious choices when renovating, furnishing and maintaining our apartments.
Where possible, we have used second-hand materials and furniture in the interior, giving existing furniture and materials a second life. For cleaning, we use eco-certified products. We also work with local businesses and suppliers wherever possible.
There is a strong focus on greenery and nature on and around the property. By planting trees, flowers and shrubs, we contribute to a greener environment and create space for a variety of plants and animals.
Amsterdam Farm Lodge is part of NoordOogst, an urban farming project where food production, nature, biodiversity and reuse come together. No chemical pesticides are used when growing crops on the site. Various residual streams are also reused. For example, the spent grain left over from brewing beer is used as animal feed for the pigs.
The presence of nature and animals also means that, occasionally, a small insect or other creature may find its way into an apartment, despite the insect screens and other precautions we have taken. We therefore ask our guests to keep food properly sealed and stored.
PLAYING OUTSIDE
With us, there is plenty of room for fun and adventure for both small and big children. First of all, children can enjoy playing outside, with plenty of room to run, climb and clamber. In addition, our natural playground offers plenty of opportunities to explore. While playing, you can also visit our friendly animals: say hello to the pigs and cuddle the chickens. Moreover, there is plenty of opportunity to relax; lounge in the sun or enjoy a delicious barbecue together. In short, visiting us is a unique experience full of fun and nature!
LOCAL PRODUCTS
At NoordOogst, honest and delicious local products are made with love and care. For example, you will find the flavorful meat of Extraordinary Pigs. In addition, Rookt offers traditionally smoked goods that go perfectly with a good meal. For coffee lovers, there is Keppler’s freshly roasted coffee, while Beelease’ s honey offers a sweet and natural surprise. Moreover, you can enjoy fresh vegetables and colorful flowers from the Stadstuinderij, complemented by fragrant herbs from our own garden. In short, NoordOogst is the place where quality and sustainability come together!
